I've become re-obsessed with an old friend. I love my Patagonia Synchilla.
Later, ya'll.

Fun Weekend
Hey y'all. So I didn't go to Dallas this weekend. Instead, I went to Aggieland in College Station to visit some friends at A&M. What a great town. So much tradition and pride goin on there. I also love that the guys are proud to sport their southern preppy look. More camo than I care for, but still great style.
We made our way to a great preppy men's store called Lew's Men's Wear. Fantastic preppy store that was well stocked in Southern Proper, Vineyard Vines, Lacoste and the like. Picked up some essentials like the Southern Proper Frat hat (which I refuse to remove from my head) as well as some croakies. Great spot if you're in the area and have a preppy/fratty guy to shop for.
I had a blast going out to Northgate and dancing. It's essentially a street with all the bars and dance spots. Had so much fun with my friends though I wish I was 21; soon enough, though.
Well I need to start studying. Later, y'all.

University Drop-out
Hey y'all. So this week has been ridiculously stressful with mid-terms. I am exhausted 24/7. I dream about dropping out and yachting for the rest of my days (with a full staff, of course).
Why can't I be a normal Texas prep and just inherit daddy's oil money and not worry about school???? Those students seem to have so much more fun. Sorry this post is basically me complaining....but seriously? Normal life is so blase sometimes.
Speaking of oil money...Dallas this weekend! Gonna visit some friends at SMU. Can't wait! Later. y'all!

One Size Too Small
Hey y'all. So I always knew my old clothes would come in handy. Like most preps, I hold on to clothing until it falls apart. That's the beauty of our style, it's always relevant.
This fall I am loving the oh-so-preppy look of layering a cozy crew neck sweater over bright polos with some khaki shorty-shorts. Top if off with some mocs and you have yourself a perfect preppy look for a true gentleman (regardless of region).
However, I find it aggravating how some polos bunch up under a sweater. Well, low and behold, thank goodness I hung onto so many of my old Brooks polos, because they just so happen to fit PERFECTLY under sweaters. Too small to wear alone, but fabulous for layering. My Brooks polos have held their shape so well over the years. Quality, quality, quality.
I'm just so excited for fall, y'all. I love to layer and I just love sweaters over polos. Hang on to your old clothes, ya never know when they might come in handy. Later, y'all!

Staying in
Hey y'all. So I decided to stay in tonight rather than go out. I have a bunch of studying to do which I am putting off all for Sunday, as usual. Aren't preps supposed to be on top of our studies? Anyway, so I went shopping today on a quest for cable knit. Apparently, though, I am two weeks too early for sweater shopping. Funny how sweaters come out AFTER the weather changes yet Christmas decor is on sale BEFORE Halloween.....
Nonetheless, I've had a few self-discoveries the past few weeks. Let us list...
1. I, JDP, do NOT like kids. Well, let me rephrase that. I do not like grungy little MISBEHAVED kids whose parents let them make a RUCKUS and kick the back of the booth while I'm trying to enjoy my brunch. I refer to these children as kool-aid kids. You know the type with the red kool-aid stash and peanut butter fingers. GROSS! Check, please!
2. I will eat anything if it's covered in a blanket of cheese.
3. I wish I was a housewife. Or househusband. Either way, I envy ladies of leisure and wish I could wake up at 9, go to pilates, have lunch with the "girls," go shop for linens, pick up the kids from tennis practice and have dinner ready by 7. Sounds amaze to me!
4. Accounting blows. PERIOD.
5. Living in Austin has made me even more conservative than I was before. Y'all are unique and different, I GET IT! No need to dye your hair blue, your nose piercing got the point across.
6. I need a boyfriend, stat! (am I allowed to say that directly after number 5?)
These are just a few things that have been on my mind the past few days. Later, y'all!

Short Temperatures
Hey y'all. Here in Texas, you never what the weather is gonna be like. During the fall months, mornings start off at 65 degrees and by lunch you're sweatin at 88. Layering is big here.
I love wearing shorts. In fact, I've been known to wear shorts deep into December. If it's not snowing, I see nothing wrong with short shorts, an oxford and a light cotton sweater. In a prep's world, we decide the forecast.
However, I am very particular about my shorts. Anything longer than a 6" inseam is too long for my taste. I like my shorts well above the knee like the Andrew short from Polo. Longer shorts just look sloppy to me. However, nothing kills me more than cargo shorts. I just don't get the point. What's goin on in those big pockets? Surely it's nothing I want anything to do with.
Well I'm gonna go starch my oxford for tomorrow. Later y'all!

Preppy Pimples
Hey y'all. Have you ever looked around class, or the store, or even at your own family, and thought, "why the heck dosn't anyone else have acne?" Being in college is stressful enough, let alone having to worry about your skin. To top things off, prep and pimples don't mix.
It's one thing to have a pimple, but to be preppy and have acne just isn't acceptable. Acne=dirty, which is something I wish not to convey.
I've been using PanOxyl Acne Foaming Wash 10% for about two weeks now and my skin has been behaving so nicely. I'm normally very oily around my t-zone and this has dried that right up. If you are stuggling with annoying acne, give this a try. No complaints so far.
Later y'all!

Buckle-Up
Hey y'all. So I'm in need of a new belt. I have a few ribbon belts and one Coach leather belt that is far too big on me. I really want to find a classic and casual light brown leather belt that I can wear day to day. Casual and classic are key here. I hate when I see guys wearing stupid trendy belts with designer logos as the buckle. Nothing says tacky like a big gold LV above ones crotch.
Sadly, lame belts as the above mentioned seem much more prevalent than the simple brown belt I so desire.
To continue with the theme of beltage, though my crew days are sadly over, I am a little obsessed with this belt from J.Press:

Fall Layers
Hey y'all. So fall is here and I'm lovin the weather...sort of. I love the low temperatures and nice breezes but I hear this is gonna be the wettest fall/winter Austin has had in a while. Wet weather is something I do not look forward to.
With that in mind, these are some things on my list for fall:
As much as we all love the Denali, lets face it, it doesn't keep you dry, just warm. The Venture Parka is slick enough to keep the wet out.
Plaid, Plaid, Plaid. I can't get enough plaid for this fall. Especially the patterns from our Yankee preppies at Vineyard Vines.
Even though I'm not into hunting, I can still rep the South with a sweet L.L.Bean vest.
Obsessed. That's all I need to say about Southern Proper.
I love dressing for fall. I love the deeper colors mixed with faded reds and navy blues. Let's just keep our fingers crossed that it doesn't rain on our fall wardrobes parade!
Hope it was a good weekend, later y'all!

Lunch box
Hey y'all. So my boss is at lunch which means I'm manning the desk for an hour and a half.
Lately I've been obsessed with chicken salad. I love anything having to do with mayonnaise, especially when eaten on a triscuit. Paula Deen has a really simple chicken salad recipe that is so tasty. I love the toasted almond slices, adds a nice texture.
She also suggested using fried chicken...thoughts? Personally, if its fried, I'll eat it. No wonder my favorite sushi rolls are the tempura ones...Anyway, another 2 hours at the office then class till 6:45. Later y'all!

Driving mocs
Hey y'all. So about 4 months ago I bought a pair of the Cole Haan gunnison driving mocs. I love
them, but the toe seems to be wearing very quickly. This bothers me seeing as how they were $165.
I feel like a good driving moc to preppy men is like what the tory burch flat is to preppy women. It's a daily staple. I'm over the whole sperry craze. I love(d) my sperrys since high school. I've had three pairs I've successfully broken in and worn out. But whats up with the hipster kids taken away our style?
I mean, urban outfitters sells them now. C'mon y'all, give me a break. Just the other day I saw a guy wearing skinny jeans, an american apparel deep v-neck, and a pair of deck shoes. If that guy has ever stepped foot on a sail boat, I'll bite my tongue may God himself strike me dead.
Point is I need some new driving mocs and I don't know where to go. If I ever get anyone to follow my blog, please give me some advice.
Hey y'all!
So I decided to start a blog about...well about whatever is on my mind. Let me introduce myself. I am J.D. I am a fourth so I have been goin by J.D. since I can remember. It made things much easier for momma and daddy around the house.
I am a junior in college and can't wait to graduate. Of course, once I do I'll have another 2 years ahead of me...woopie!
So incase you didn't read my profile, I am gay. However, I like to think I am not your typical homosexual. For starters, I'm a proud Republican. Don't ask questions, just accept that I am. I feel like my political views cause more controversy than my sexual orientation does these days...expecially in this hippie haven they call Austin.
Anyway, lately I've been obsessed with my ray-ban wayfarers again. I got over them when I got new costas for Christmas but I seem to be going back to my wayfarers....I need to find some new croakies for them, like those thin stringy ones..but I dont know where to find them.
Well, I'm off to bed, later y'all.
